Family-Owned · Marin-Based

Two generations.
One standard.

GB Contractors started with one builder doing one thing well. Twenty-plus years and hundreds of Marin homes later, the standard hasn't changed — only the team that holds it.

The story.

Manuel Escobar founded Golden Bay Contractor over twenty years ago, building a reputation in Marin County one project at a time. Word-of-mouth — the only kind of marketing that ever really mattered — turned a one-man crew into a full-service general contractor trusted with the kinds of homes people stay in for life.

Today, Manuel still leads the work. His son Elvin Escobar is leading the next chapter — the rebrand to GB Contractors, the modernization of how we communicate with clients, the expansion into Lutron smart-home integration and contemporary high-end residential. The craftsmanship that built the business is what's worth carrying forward; the way we run a project just keeps getting sharper.

Family-owned isn't a marketing line for us — it's the operating model. The person who answers the phone, the person who walks your project, and the person whose name is on the license are connected. There's no layer between the builder and the buck. If something isn't right, you know exactly who to talk to, and the answer is always "we'll fix it."

About the name. Our legal entity is Golden Bay Contractor LLC, founded in 2004. "GB Contractors" is our current operating name — the same company, the same license (CSLB #992507), the same Escobar family. The rebrand simplifies the name; nothing else changes.

The Family

Two generations, one license, one phone line.

Manuel Escobar

Founder · Lead Builder

Manuel founded Golden Bay Contractor in 2004 after years of running crews for other Bay Area builders. He still walks every site, holds every license, and leads every project that goes through the company. His name is on the door because his standards are on the door.

Elvin Escobar

Principal · Operations

Elvin grew up on his dad's job sites and is now leading the next chapter — the rebrand to GB Contractors, the modernization of how we run projects, and the expansion into Lutron smart-home integration and contemporary high-end residential work across the Bay Area.

What we stand for.

Craftsmanship that compounds

We've watched our work age across Marin's climate for two decades. The boring details — the flashing, the joinery, the substrate — are what determine whether a home still looks new in year fifteen. That's where the craft lives.

Honest accountability

One accountable point of contact from first call to final walk-through. In-house trades for the load-bearing decisions. No subcontractor handoff confusion. If a problem shows up, the answer is always "we own it" — never "that was a different crew."

Real numbers, real timelines

Line-item bids, identified risk areas, realistic schedules. We don't quote optimistic numbers to win the project. We quote what it takes — and we hold to it. The reputation is worth more than the next contract.

The credentials.

Where We Work

Marin home base. Bay Area reach.

Home base is Novato. We work across all of Marin — Mill Valley, Tiburon, Ross, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Sausalito, San Rafael, Belvedere, Kentfield, Greenbrae — and we travel for the right project: across the bridge to San Francisco, down the Peninsula to Palo Alto, and north into Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties.

We know the local building departments, the design-review districts, the soils and the climate. Working with a contractor who knows the territory matters more than most homeowners realize until it doesn't.
